"Just returned from Ireland. Highly recommend. Having informed tour guides who were born there, taking you to the best sites, makes a world of difference."
About Neville Gardner
and Donegal Square
Travelling on the Northern Ireland and Scotland 2018 Tours.
Donegal Square established in 1985 by owner Neville Gardner as a result of many requests by friends of Neville’s to bring back various items from Ireland each time he visited his family in County Antrim. The name of the shop is taken from the Georgian Square in which Belfast City Hall sits. Neville worked there as a civil engineer before coming to the US back in 1979.
In 1996 Donegal Square moved to our current location almost doubling in size and allowing the addition of McCarthy’s Tea Room and restaurant. Since Neville grew up in Northern Ireland and had the benefit of both Irish and Scottish heritage, it’s fitting that you will find a great mixture of products from all the Celtic Lands. If you have the opportunity to pay us a visit you’ll feel right at home, and maybe that you found a wee bit of Ireland or Scotland, located here in Eastern Pennsylvania- no passport is required.
Donegal Square has been involved with the Celtic Classic festival since its inception in 1987 and is proud to be associated with one of the best events of its kind in North America, if not the world.
Donegal Square and McCarthy's Red Stag Pub are the Celtic Destination in the Lehigh Valley and Eastern Pennsylvania. Specializing in Celtic Imports from Ireland and the rest of the British Isles Donegal Square carries a great range of items from the best companies on both sides of the Atlantic. McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar make many dishes from owner Neville Gardner’s native Northern Ireland and quite a few of our offerings are actually family recipes. Both shop and restaurant are open seven days a week with the exception of major holidays.
About Gerry Timlin
Travelling on the Northern Ireland 2018 Tour.
A great favorite in the USA and Canada, this Pennsylvania-based singer has enjoyed success all over the world. He was born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, where he developed an early interest in traditional Irish music and in folk music. From the beginning, Gerry displayed a musical talent, winning several singing competitions in Northern Ireland when he was still in his teens. He moved to the USA in the early seventies, and has been delighting audiences with his smooth baritone voice and his irreverent humor ever since. In 2014, he was honored to perform with his singing partner, Tom Kane, at the Congressional Friends of Ireland Luncheon on Capital Hill for The President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, Prime Minister of Ireland, members of Congress.
